say hello to "chocoreale"

Even before I went vegan, both Omniman and I gave up our favorite Italian chocolate-hazlenut spread, Nutella, since it contains hydrogenated oils [and skim milk]. Imagine my surprise when I saw a European chocolate hazlenut spread for sale on Vegan Essentials.

Sold out.

Again. And again.

Countless tries later, I finally got my mitts on a jar.

This weekend for breakfast, I made our old favorite--crepes with "Nutella" and bananas--using Chocoreale. It's just as creamy, luscious and caloric as Nutella--but it's also vegan and non-hydrogenated, to boot.

OK, it's not exactly a health food. But if you're going to indulge decadently every once in awhile, you might as well not clog your arteries--or contribute to animal suffering--in the process.

Oh, I am so glad that you posted this. I used to love Nutella and all its transfatty creamy yumminess. Whenever we were in Europe, it would be Nutella on everything.

Yay, now it can be chocoreale on everything, provided I go to yoga everytime I indulge in it's caloric goodness.

Glad you got your mitts on the stuff and am excited to find it myself!

It's so funny that you posted it today. I was driving home and thinking about Nutella, and wondering if I could ever have a hazelnut spread again!

Chocolate hazelnut spread? Oh yeah the stuff that accounts for the excessive circumfrence of my thighs!
I thought I was safe from the stuff without a vegan option.

I truely loved Nutella, glad to hear there is a option for the haters of trans fats and vegans!

I'm glad to read this post. I've been eyeing that stuff for a while now, and was reluctant to buy a whole jar in case it wasn't up to snuff. Hmmm.... fantasies of crepes and chocoreale!

Chocolate is the last food on earth that needs dairy (or hydgrgenated oils for that matter!) to taste delicious!!!! Hooray for Chocoreal!

It's definitely some great stuff. I love it too. In my opinion it also makes a great cupcake and pancake/waffle topping.

This creation sounds good! Throw some all natual peanut butter in it, and Elvis would come back from the grave for it!

The crepes look delicious! The local health food stores sell hazelnut butter up here. I used to make my own 'nutella' type spread, but it's been a while. Those Europeans. So progressive.

I'd never heard of chocoreale, but it sounds decadent! I was just about to post (in the next day or two) about another vegan chocolate hazelnut spread... we are really not hurting for options, are we?? Ok, I'm going to say it, noone can stop me.... yum-o!

I have that in my fridge! I too made crepes with it - it's so good....not quite as smooth as nutella, but I am not complaining..

This post speaks right to my heart... yes, I gave up my beloved Nutella both for the dairy and, before that, the trans fats. Now that I know there is a solution, I'm definitely going to have to indulge soon!

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this chocolate-hazelnut spread!
What a great thing to have the goodness without all the transfats.
My son and I absolutely love nutella, but I try not to buy it because of the bad stuff in it, and if there is a jar around I know it is going to get eaten.
Now I hope to find the Chocoreale where I live. Did you buy it online?
Thanks again, I can't wait to get my little hands on a jar now!!!!!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE chocoreale -- I had never thought to put it in a crepe!! I usually end up "taking a taste" with a spoon until the jar is empty!

I saw that online before and though it probably wasn’t as good as Nutella, but now that I know it’s good I might have to give it a go! Thanks for that!
